Why Transfer Size Matters
One of the most common first-timer mistakes is printing a design that's too big, too small, or off-center. Unlike screen printing where a shop handles sizing, with DTF transfers you set the size when you build your gang sheet — so it's worth getting it right before you order.
The good news: there are standard sizing guidelines used across the apparel industry, and once you know them, sizing becomes second nature.
Standard DTF Transfer Sizes by Garment
👕 T-Shirts (Adult)
- Full front chest print: 11" – 12" wide × 13" – 14" tall
- Left chest (pocket area): 3.5" – 4" wide × 3.5" – 4" tall
- Full back print: 11" – 13" wide × 13" – 15" tall
Placement tip: Center the design horizontally. For a full front print, place the top of the design about 2"–3" below the collar.
👶 Youth T-Shirts
- Full front: 8" – 10" wide × 9" – 11" tall
- Left chest: 3" – 3.5" wide × 3" – 3.5" tall
🧥 Hoodies & Sweatshirts
- Full front (below pouch pocket): 10" – 12" wide × 10" – 12" tall
- Full front (above pouch pocket): 9" – 11" wide × 5" – 7" tall
- Left chest: 3.5" – 4.5" wide × 3.5" – 4.5" tall
- Full back: 11" – 13" wide × 13" – 15" tall
Tip: If your hoodie has a front pocket, decide whether your design goes above or below it — both look great, just plan accordingly.
🧢 Hats & Caps
- Structured front panel: 2" – 2.5" tall × 4" – 5" wide
- Flat bill / snapback front: up to 2.5" tall × 5" wide
Hat sizing is tighter than you think — keep designs simple and bold so they read clearly at small sizes. Avoid fine details or thin lines.
🧦 Other Items
- Tote bags (front center): 8" – 10" wide × 8" – 10" tall
- Sleeves (adult): 3" – 4" wide × 4" – 6" tall
- Socks: 2" – 3" wide × 2" – 3" tall
How to Set the Right Size in the Gang Sheet Builder

- Use the measurements above as your guide — set the width first, and the height will scale proportionally if your design is locked to ratio.
